Wood Glue - Workshop All-Rounder

Wood glue, white glue, PVAc glue or dispersion glue. The names for the classic workshop glue are as diverse as its applications. Wood glue is used for bonding soft and hard woods, for HPL surface face bonding, for gluing board gaps, for block bonding and carcass and assembly applications.

Durability Groups for Wood Glue: D1 to D4

One of the most important classifications for white glues is the durability group as per EN 204. It gives information on the water resistance of the adhesive and allows conclusions on when it might be adviseable to change to other adhesive systems (e.g. PUR).

D1 Wood Glue

D1 wood glue is suitable for bonding work in the interior, e.g. for interior doors, furniture or wood panelling. The maximum wood moisture should not exceed 15 %.

D2 Wood Glue

Wood glues of the durability group D2 are suitable for bonding kitchen and bathroom furniture. The wood moisture should not exceed 18 %.

D3 Wood Glue

D3 wood glue is suitable for bonding work in the interior with frequent short-term exposure to water, condensed water or occasional high humidity. Also, exterior bonding work with this glue is protected against weather.

D4 Wood Glue

White glue certified as D4 is suitable for all applications that are also covered by D3 glues. Plus, they offer appropriate surface protection.
